Performs routine sales and clerical work in selling store items, admission to park, camping fees, and answering phone. Serves as immediate point of contact for visitors to the park and actively contributes to the environment of hospitality.
This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 35 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires fingering, vocal communications required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.
Lifeguard
This is a position which involves patrol of a public swimming pool, standing watch on an assigned shift, and providing emergency assistance when needed.
This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects, and some medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects: work requires climbing, stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, nose, and hazards.
Maintenance Worker
Assists in maintenance at Grand Caverns and/or Natural Chimneys Regional Parks. Major component of job is the responsibility for providing maintenance and custodial services to the park.
This is heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping; vocal communication is information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for peripheral vision, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arms length, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions, oils and wearing a respirator. The worker may be exposed to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.Interpretive Specialist
The Upper Valley Regional Park Authority is currently accepting applications for the position of Interpretive Specialist at Grand Caverns Regional Park.
Responsibilities include: leading educational tours of Grand Caverns for a variety of individuals and groups (including school classes, civic organizations, and international tourists); assisting in the daily operation of the park’s Gift Shop and “Living Cave” Exhibit; maintaining a high level of interaction with park visitors and tourists; completing light housekeeping tasks for the Gift Shop and Exhibit (dusting, sweeping, mopping)
Preferred applicants will have a high school diploma/equivalent G.E.D or 6 months of previous experience in the interpretive field.
This is a seasonal position with a competitive, established wage scale. Opportunities do exist for weekday and/or weekend hours.
