Directions to the Natural Chimneys and Grand Caverns

Natural Chimneys

On I-81, North or South: Take I-81, Exit 240. Exit onto SR 257, Traveling West [Right if traveling South on I-81, Left if traveling North on I-81, toward Bridgewater, VA.] At the intersection of SR 257 and US 42, go South [turn Left] on US 42. Travel 6 miles south on US 42 to the intersection of US 42 & SR 809/747. Travel West on SR 809/747 [turn Right] for about 4 miles to Mt. Solon, VA. At the 4-way Stop sign, Travel North [turn Right] on SR 731 for one mile. Find the entrance to Natural Chimneys Regional Park on your Right.

From Grand Caverns: Exit the park, turn Left on Dogwood Ave. [traveling North]. At the intersection of Dogwood Avenue and SR 256, turn Left. Take SR 256 to Weyers Cave, VA [traveling West]. Continue West on SR 256, crossing I-81, to the intersection of US 11. Turn Right on US 11, and travel North for about 2,500 ft. to the intersection of SR 646. Turn Left on SR 646 and travel West for 13 miles to US 42. Turn Right on US 42 and travel approximately 1,250 ft. to SR 809/747. Travel West on SR 809/747 [turn Left] for about 4 miles to Mt. Solon, VA. At the 4-way Stop sign, Travel North [turn Right] on SR 731 for one mile. Find the entrance to Natural Chimneys Regional Park on your Right.

Grand Caverns

On I-81, North or South: Take I-81, Exit 235 Exit onto SR 256, Traveling East [Left if traveling South on I-81, Right if traveling North on I-81, toward Grottoes, VA.] Travel East on SR 256 for 7 miles to Grottoes, VA. At the intersection of Dogwood Avenue, turn South [Right] on Dogwood. Travel South on Dogwood Ave. for 1,000 ft. Turn Right into the Entrance of Grand Caverns [Grand Caverns Drive].

On US 340, North or South: At the Grottoes intersection with SR 256, travel West [turn Right if traveling South, turn Left if traveling North] for 1,200 ft. At the intersection of SR 256 and Dogwood Avenue, turn Left on Dogwood. Travel South on Dogwood Ave. for 1,000 ft. Turn Right into the Entrance of Grand Caverns [Grand Caverns Drive].

From Natural Chimneys: Turn Left out of the Park on SR 731, and travel 1 mile south. At the 4-way Stop, turn Left on SR 747, traveling East for 4 miles. At the intersection of SR 747 and US 42, travel South [turn Right] for 1,250 ft to SR 646. Turn Left on SR 646 and travel 13 miles East to US 11. Turn Right on US 11, and travel south for 2,500 ft to the intersection to SR 256. Turn Left on SR 256 and travel 7 miles to Grottoes, VA. Turn Right on Dogwood Avenue at Grottoes. Travel South for 1,000 ft, Turn Right on Grand Caverns Drive, and into the park.
